There is a great article titled “10 WordPress Tips to Make Your Blog Look Like a Website (for Beginners)” by Louis Lazaris of Impressive Webs written on May 25th, 2009. Louis runs a web design blog from Toronto, offering web design services, plus articles and tutorials covering practical web development tips and solutions.
Of the 10 tips, several are dedicated to the modification of default themes that come with WordPress when you download the software. The article explains how best to customize your blog to look more like a website and make it more functional and user friendly.
Tip 8. Don’t Call Your Website a “Blog”
Serious websites that provide significant content are viewed as “communities” or “resources”, instead of “blogs”. The word “blog” nowadays is probably more appropriate for individuals who post thoughts and musings on various personal and professional topics.
Because of this tip, I am in the process of changing my blog – oops my website or I call it just site which can be a website or a blog – to present it as a community of resources for changing your mindset about personal finances so that you live a more comfortable and debt-free life.
