However, there are a few (not so fun?) household items that should get some lovin’ before you drop the big bucks on other personal items.

Yep, a mattress. There are a significant amount of health risks associated with not changing your mattress every seven to ten years? And sleep is so important to one’s overall health, you can’t snooze on this one. A bad mattress can significantly affect your posture, cause back pain, and really mess with your sleep. Mattresses are pricey, but they’re also a long-term investment that is vital to your sleep health and overall well-being.

Couch
Sure, it’s easy to buy a used cheap couch off of Craigslist, but how long does it actually last? Not to mention, the number of dust mites and dirt particles that are living deep within. Yikes. Couches aren’t an item that get replaced often, so go ahead and and invest in a couch you’ll love and want want for a few years. You’ll feel a lot more cozy and clean!

Have you ever had a vacuum cleaner that didn’t pick up a speck even after vacuuming the same spot for about 30 minutes? Yep, the definition of annoying. Vacuums are essential to a clean home. Still using your sheets from college? Besides the fact that sheets should be washed every one to two weeks, having at least one nice set of sheets without the wear and tear is something that should 100% be splurged on for cleanliness and comfort! You guessed it, same as the sheets! Your guests shouldn’t have to use the towels you used when you were in college. Gross. It’s important to invest in a nice matching set of towels for your guests AND yourself. They don’t have to be made out of the nicest Turkish cotton material, but your skin will thank you for giving it the love it deserves . Many home stores offer great deals on towels too. Talk about a win-win.
