The unemployment rate is still quite high, around 10%. Some experts say it will take some time that the economy rebounds. That means jobless rate will be up in the 8% to 10% range in the foreseeable future. You have been out of work for a year or maybe longer now. How about if you start thinking about career change and hopefully for the better.
Even if you have a job and are frustrated in your current position for a variety of reasons, then go over the tips below and change your career path and come up with the definitive answer to your career change challenge. Forget the convention and start thinking outside the box.
- Soft & Hard Skills
Don’t just look at the skills you have gained at work. Those would be your hard skills. Consider your hobbies. Are you doing community work? Are you enjoying it? Can you turn it into a business or career? - Your Interests
Given that many people, including myself, fall into jobs that they had not planned to be in, take time now to think about what you really enjoy doing. What kind of work would you really be at home with? - Talk to your friends and casual encounters

If you have a few ideas that sound interesting, then why not try them out as a volunteer. Check your local library whether it is an idea that would be worth investigating further. - You have access to the Internet – do research
Just watch the world with job seeker eyes. See if you can identify a few new career ideas every week that you never realized existed before. - Allow yourself to explore ideas uncritically
Open your mind to the enormous pool of possibilities out there and look for something that really captures your mind and heart.
