7 Ways To Make Google Love Your Blog

Dean Martin once said “Everybody loves somebody sometimes.” However, with Google it’s not sometimes. World Wide Web being ON and in service every second in the 24-hour period, Google must love your site all the time. The love must always be ON, not ON one time and OFF another. No break ups. You cannot ignore Google lest it ignores you. And if it does ignore, that would be the worst day of your blog short life. It must be a two-way street.
Your blog (or website) must show love for Google so it can love your blog in return. Every search engine sends out robots throughout the vast landscape of the Internet. Google’s such robot is known as Googlebot. The job of this robot is to gather information and links of all the websites and blogs and report them back to Google place of residence to be indexed in its huge databases that are scattered all over.
Webmaster Guidelines
Google has published Webmaster Guidelines that describes the hooks and nooks that you can put in your online site to be indexed by the search engine more favorably. These guidelines are very simple to follow and can be easily implemented on your site. Disregarding them can and probably will hurt you and your blog or website in the long run.
Below are the Tips How To Make Google Love Your Blog.
-
Have meaningful title
Each page should have a meaningful title suited to the content of your page. The title should have at least one keyword about the subject matter of your page. Just by looking at the title with one keyword, Googlebot is then able to relate to the rest of the content.
-
Page description
Include a meaningful one or two sentence description of your page but do not spam with keywords. Using the plug-in All in One SEO Pack makes it easier.
-
Content, Content, Content
For real estate, it’s location, location, location. For each page, you must have good and interesting content with a few of your primary keywords for the page strategically placed. But the flow of the content must remain intact.
-
Always have text links
Sometimes you want to make your site pretty with Java Scripts and Flash. That’s fine as long as you make sure to have regular text and standard text links.
-
However, use meaningful descriptions for links
Use meaningful text inside your tags so that Googlebot can associate that text with that link. The link text is known as anchor text. Instead of using “Click Here”, use text to describe the link like Doable Personal Finance.
-
Don’t use important text inside an image
The Googlebot doesn’t recognize text contained in images. Don’t put an important message inside your image. Always use ALT=”Description for your image.”
-
Sitemap
Google says: “Offer a site map to your users with links that point to the important parts of your site. If the site map is larger than 100 or so links, you may want to break the site map into separate pages.” You can download Google (XML) Sitemaps Generator for WordPress. Use the old one because that has the detailed format Google needs. This is what I have for Doable Personal Finance Sitemap.
In a Nutshell
Take your laptop to your library and you know where that is, right?
Start reading Google’s Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide. For this guy, old habits never die even though there are better ways to read in this digital age. Just click on the image and find out.
