Lao-Tzu is considered Chinese philosopher who once said: “Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

However, it may work in other walks of life but when it comes to shopping, you must avoid going with the flow of the day.

You must go with the flow of your needs and not your wishes.

Avoid Going With The Flow When Shopping

Learn to go with the flow of everyday life but only when it does not affect your finances adversely.

Anything that you regret later, you must try to avoid doing them.

  • Accept change but only good change

The environment surrounding your life keeps changing. You must realize that you cannot control everything, though you must be prepared to face reality.

For example, you have no control over the economy, interest rate, inflation, and the likes. Even if we all know it, at times the way we think, act and feel many times contradicts this basic truth.

However, there are certain things in your life that you can control and you must for the family to benefit from. You can’t change things in your head if you are not aware of them.

Educate yourself. Seek help if need be. Be aware of the fact that you are a big spender. Only then you can do something about it, to get it under control.

  • Perspective on your income and expenses

Always be aware and get a perspective of your income and expenses. Take a step back on spending that are not essentials in your everyday life.

A month from now, a year from now, you would notice a big difference in better quality of life and I might add, bigger saving account as well.

It might need some practice on your part. Consider shopping a skill like any other that you must perfect. You must realize that you can’t control others.

So if Mr. and Mrs. Jones go out on shopping and spending spree, you don’t have to.

You must buy things only what you need. More than that, you will be inviting debt in your financial life.

And we all know what debt has done to otherwise decent folks – losing their homes at worse.

In the process to adapting the realities in life, you must accept certain change and imperfection.

Nobody is perfect. When we get things the way we like them, we usually don’t want them to change.

But they will change. It’s a fact of life. You can lose job and other sources of income if you have them.

In a Nutshell
Avoid going with flow when shopping. It might make some sense in everything else but not when it comes to spending your hard-earned income. Only then you would start enjoying your financially life to the fullest.
