How to Safely Clean Jewelry at Home and Save Money

With the current state of our economies, we are constantly looking for ways to save our hard-earned income through innovative ways.
Anyone who loves their jewelry will attest to spending a lot of money cleaning and returning the lost luster of their prized pieces.
It is important to maintain your jewelry and to keep it looking radiant. However, this should not be the reason to break your bank.
There are many different products that you can purchase at the local store that can save you lots of cash. Below, I will mention a few of them.

Using aluminum foil
You can clean your jewelry by lining a bowl with aluminum foil, fill up the lined bowl with hot water and add in bleach free laundry detergent.
Make sure the detergent is not liquid. Put your jewelry in the solution and let it sit in for one to two minutes.
This is ideal for silver jewelry. It works to restore the luster and shine of silver through a process called ion exchange.

Using Baking soda
Put half a cup of baking soda and use water to make a thick paste. Make sure the paste is thick and consistent.
Afterwards, use a cloth or sponge to rub the surfaces of your jewelry.
Since gold is a bit tougher than most, pour the baking soda directly onto the piece of jewelry to get a better shine for your gold jewelry.
Then dab your cloth or sponge in vinegar and rub. Rinse it and watch the shine return to your golden pieces.

Ketchup and Toothpaste
You may find this a little bit difficult to believe, but ketchup and toothpaste can be used to clean your jewelry.
We all know that jewelry, especially the diamond pendant price and the gold pendant price has been on the rise since these have gained popularity in recent times.
Use ketchup to gently rub the surface of gold and silver. Toothpaste can be used to make your diamonds sparkle.

Using Beer
Your local light beer can be used to clean up and polish your solid gold jewelry.
Make sure you do not use any dark ale or dark stout. All you need to do is to soak your soft cloth in beer and gently rub over your piece of jewelry.
Dry it with an equally soft piece of cloth and see the difference.

Using Ammonia or Alka-Seltzer
Dull-looking gold or silver jewelry can be made sparkly and shiny by using this easy-to-purchase over-the-counter products.
For Alka-Seltzer, simply pour it in a bowl and soak your jewelry in it for a couple of minutes.
For ammonia, mix half a cup of clear ammonia with one cup of water and wipe your jewelry with the solution.
This will save you on the bucks and restore your jewelry’s original shine.
Maintaining your jewelry should not put a dent in your pocket, one can use the above tips to simply and safely maintain the look of their pieces.
