Your Debt Leftovers When You Are Deleted

Benjamin Franklin once said “Make no expense but to do good to others or yourself; i.e., waste nothing.” He also said that – and has been quoted differently in his words – “Death, taxes and childbirth! There’s never any convenient time for any of them.” In computer and Internet jargon, death comes when you are “deleted” from the surface of the earth. Your database gets closed on this planet.
Your Leftovers
I am not talking about food leftover even though that can be a part of it. President Bill Clinton once said if every American saved leftovers for one day, it would be enough to feed 49 million people for that day. Imagine for a minute the immensity of waste in this country in a year. It’s not just food, it’s everything. We keep buying things we don’t need. That is waste. And many of us do that over and again all our lives till the time comes when we are “deleted” and sometimes we are deleted with just a click.
Before you are deleted…
If you have lived a debt laden life as long as you can remember, then it’s time to start thinking about your family especially your kids. Look at your kids’ innocent faces. Are you leaving them all your stinking debt? When you went on a spending spree and kept accumulating debt, did you think for a minute about your kids how they would react to your stupidity and ignorance [not to mention arrogance] after you are deleted? Before you pay all your debt, what if someone clicks on your life SUBMIT button to submit you to be deleted right away or make you incapacitated for the rest of your life. In America, most folks believe that it happens to others. You are not immortal though you may think you are.
After you are deleted…
You can’t do “nothing” now. Your books and your database have been closed and archived. You cannot even shit “no more”. But your stinking leftover shit in the form of stinking debt will be all over town. Your kids, for no reason and no fault of their own, will have to bear consequences of your stupid ways of spending more than you made for a long time to come. Mind you! Your kids are innocent in this quagmire of your own creation. Leave something positive [cash and assets and debt free] so they can stand on firm ground when they start their own financial life.
In a Nutshell
Let me tell you a secret that you probably never heard of. Spend less than you make. You will do OK and when you are deleted, your kids would do OK as well.
