Success doesn’t come any easier in the virtual marketplace, but many of these opportunities provide more flexibility and carry less risk, allowing you to gain greater rewards.

Here are 10 of the most common ways to make money online that offer good opportunities for beginners:

1. Ad Sales

   There are many ways to sell advertising: Through your blog, your Twitter account, your other social networking profiles. There are many ways to make money with advertising on your blog: Banner ads, pay-per-click or pay-per-impression advertisements, text ads, feed ads, and more. The key to success is to build a blog with a steady stream of traffic.

2. Affiliate Marketing

   Selling affiliate products is a bit like selling advertising, only instead of being paid for displaying the ads, you are paid when your readers act on the ads and actually buy something. You are paid a commission of any sales generated through your site. Again, a key to success is having a popular blog with a lot of traffic.

3. Reviews

   Many companies will pay you to write reviews of their products or services. In most cases, you have to write the review on your own blog, but there are a few sites that will sponsor your review. If you review products for pay on your own blog, you have to disclose it to your readers.

4. Surveys

   There are many sites that will pay you just for sharing your opinion. Pay ranges from under $1 to up to several hundred dollars, depending on the site and the complexity of the survey. Beware of scam sites that just want to get your personal information or trick you into signing up for offers that are difficult to cancel.

5. “Get Paid to” Sites

   Many sites will pay you to do things you already do online: Surf the web, search Google, “like” things on Facebook and much more. Again, pay will vary and can be as low as just a few cents. However, when you are doing simple actions like clicking boxes — which you already would have been doing anyway — then the work is easy and even a few cents each time will add up quickly. Again, beware of shammy sites that just want to take your personal information.

6. Freelance Writing

   If you are a good writer or are knowledgeable in a particular subject area, there are many sites that will pay you to write. You can be paid to write blog posts, web copy, newsletters, e-mail marketing, and much more. There many online directories with paid freelance writing work to get you started.

7. Consulting

   You can also use your knowledge to help others and get paid. You can offer your own consulting services on topics like diet, finances, marketing, and so much more. Many professionals are able to work from home by starting their own online consulting business.

8. Virtual Assisting

   Other online entrepreneurs like yourself often need a helping hand, and they are willing to pay for it. You can offer your services as a virtual assistant, performing duties like e-mail correspondence, database management, social media monitoring, and more.

9. Information Products

   Anyone can be an author these days with little to no investment. You can publish e-books easily on Amazon on a range of topics. If you are creative, you can sell novels. If you have expertise to share, you can write useful guides that offer solutions for your readers.

10. Drop Shipping

    You don’t have to have your own store to sell products — in fact, you don’t even have to have your own products. Drop shipping allows you to sell products from a wholesaler through your own site or through third-party sites like eBay. You sell the product, and the wholesaler ships it. Then you keep the difference in the sales price and the wholesale price.

There are many ways to make money online, and each requires a different level of skill of commitment.
